Start a Chapter
Our chapters are critical to building support for world federalism in communities around the world. Spreading awareness, educating the public, and organizing events and actions are key to putting pressure on leaders to support a united world.
Create a Local Message
🏙️
World federalism is often too broad and distant for people to engage with. Our organizers translate and localize the message of world federalism for their local communities, connect global issues to the local and national level, and make world federalism accessible.
Gain Skills for the Future
🧰
Grassroots organizing takes many skills that a relevant across sectors and industries. Communication, argument, social media management, event organizing, writing, design, and fundraising are just a few of the skills you can gain from becoming an organizer.
Build a Network
🕸️
As an organizer, you'll meet people in your community and around the world. Making friends, meeting lawmakers and local leaders, and building strong relationships with other organizations that believe global problems require global solutions are just some of the ways your network will grow as an organizer.
What chapters do
Two kinds of work, and the strongest chapters do both.
-
Organizing. Public events, workshops, university talks, screenings, model world parliaments. This is how a chapter becomes real to the people around it.
-
Research & Advocacy. Chapters also establish where their own government stands on questions of global governance, and publish what they find. Where does your country stand on review of the UN Charter under Article 109? Has it taken a position in negotiations on a treaty on crimes against humanity? Does it support a UN Parliamentary Assembly? These positions are rarely written down anywhere. A chapter that documents them is doing work almost nobody else in the country is doing, and it gives you something concrete to bring to officials and to the press.
Chapters work on issues, never on candidates or political parties. Organizers are responsible for operating within the laws of their own country, and should speak with us before acting in YWF's name.
Two types of chapter
Associate Chapters are existing organizations that share our mission and remain legally separate from YWF. They may use the YWF name and logo on world federalism projects. This is the right route if you already run an organization. Official Chapters are formed as part of YWF and carry YWF in their name, for example YWF Berlin.
Organizers and membership
Our grants are funded by our members. Dues and small donations are the whole pot, so we ask chapter organizers to be members as well. Membership starts at whatever level fits your circumstances and we never ask anyone to prove them.
What we can offer
Modest grants for events and materials, subject to available funds. Communications and design support. Introductions across the world federalist movement. Publication of your writing on our News and Opinion page.
